Struggling with Imposter Syndrome

As young adults, it can be quite a tall order to manage classes, expectations for future, relationships, and more all while trying to keep our mental health in check.

Constant comparison and feeling as if what you do is inadequate are the two biggest elements of imposter syndrome. This also comes with a feeling of getting exposed, as if someone will reveal that you are actually a fraud.

As you can imagine, this can form a vicious, unhealthy cycle of never feelin good enough, always trying to work harder, and an anxious feeling of getting exposed. This is a very common feeling people have, and many studies show that the majority of people have dealt with imposter syndrome at some point in their lives.

Mental health is a constant battle, and it can be difficult to give it the full attention it needs when at such a transitory phase in life.

Everyone will have to find their own way of mental healing, and there is never one answer for every person. Some people find success in hobbies, family, and friends. If you're a student at college it is very likely they provide a therapist for free, as well as plenty of other services that you may find helpful. If you feel it would help, never be afraid to reach out and seek help. Outside of that, it is important to remember a few things: everyone moves at their own pace in life, it is never a race, and it will pass with time.
