As mentioned in our previous blog, there is never one single answer for dealing with mental health issues. Mental health problems come in many shapes and sizes, from anxiety to depression, imposter syndrome, social anxiety, eating disorders, and dozens more. Although this is a truth, we can still talk about some common approaches people take and how successful they can be, even if for a short term.

Probably the most common route people take is exercise, and for great reason. There is an undeniable, researched link between our mental health and how much exercise we get. Individuals who get consistent exercise are far less likely to suffer from common mental health disorders, and are overall happier. A great thing about exercise is that its effects can remain the same even for varying levels of exercise; someone who is trying to lose weight can get the same feelings a marathon runner might get.

Another common tactic is eating right and taking care of your body outside of exercise. Eating unhealthy foods can lead to mental health issues relatively quickly, so a great way to right that course is taking care of your body from a diet and hygiene path. This sounds very obvious but someone dealing with severe depression may have a very difficult time even finding the strength to eat right or brush their teeth.

Family, friends, and loved ones are of course very important for someone dealing with mental health issues. Having a person to fall back on, or at the very least talk to, can make all the difference.

Its crucial you find something to escape with, from hobbies, to diet, to loved ones. These may not be the perfect answers for what a person is going through, but they will undoubtedly make a noticeable difference.
